The world of rock music has always had a little place reserved for even the weirdest of characters.  Not unlike
Syd Barrett, Daniel Johnston or Roky Erickson, Bill Enich is an artist that is haunted by demons that the listener can only partly
understand.  However, unlike the work of
Barrett, Johnston or
Erickson, Guru of Love is a humorist, ‘outsider-artist’ look at relationships, death and religion that is as wonderfully naďve and funny as is it poignant and profound.  Enich works his way through songs like “Love Slave,” and “Full Effect of My Love” with the help of Cesare’s Dog oboist John Galuska (recorders, oboe, percussion), Sun Zoom Spark’s Eric Johnson (guitar) and Jason Peer (bass).  There is even a few
primitively recorded contributions from
Enich alone that are the ‘rough-gem’ examples of a talent that never fully made it out into the sunlight.
