For every good band that you hear, there are 100 better bands that you may never hear. For years, we have been surrounded by innovative yet unknown musicians and bands that have never found their way into a recording studio not to mention having their works available to the public. For years, SlowBurn Records has captured these musicians on tape.
SlowBurn Records was created to organize the musical ideas of a group of high school friends. Over the years, it has become something much greater. The SlowBurn catalog has archived the musical heritage of dozens of involved musicians over the course of almost two decades. Since 1987, SlowBurn founders have recorded over forty full length albums and dozens of live performances in hopes to capture these all-to-fleeting moments in the lives of a group of uniquely-minded musicians. If it was not for the patience and dedication of SlowBurn, these musical efforts would have been forever lost.
Realizing that by creating a label is a way to archive and perpetuate what we have done for years, SlowBurn Records was officially founded in 2000. The goal of the Tucson Arizona-based artist-owned label is to continue to record and release creative music. To this end, SlowBurn's catalog is eclectic, ranging from innovative indie and psych-rock, to forward-thinking ambient works and soundtracks, to mescalito folk-rock and power-blues. All SlowBurn releases are engineered and mixed on "old school" multi-track machines, rather than on non-linear computers. All aspects of production, including art direction are carried out by the artist-owners themselves. We believe that this personal involvement in each project adds to the unique qualities of each SlowBurn CD.
SlowBurn Records continues to trace the musical legacy of the musicians in and around this unique extended family and continues to find ways to better bring our music to a greater audience.
