Inspired by the emerging techno movement of the late 1980s/early 1990s, Scary Stories is a collection of drum machine and keyboard fueled experiments.  Not having access to equiptment like samplers and sequencers, Scary Stories was recorded in the old-school way, with some Casio-tone generated rhythms and guitar effects.  Some of the songs hit their mark (Wrong Way Down, Monsoon), others are less successful become blurry sound collages.  Unfortunately, the genre was never pursued again.  Scary Stories is really the only musical example of this type in the collective catalog.   Also included is some interesting textural piano pieces recorded in fall of 1990.  The collection includes Ben Johnston’s licensed-to-ill “Chicken Lung.”
